Child Safety Standards
Kismet is for adults only
Kismet is an 18+ dating service. Nobody under 18 may create an account or use the app, for any reason and with anyone's permission. Everyone must give their date of birth at signup and verify a phone number, and the 18+ requirement is enforced on our servers, not only in the app.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data. If you believe a minor is using Kismet, report the account in the app or email contact@yourkismet.app and we will act on it.
We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE)
Kismet has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This is not a matter of degree or context: the conduct below is banned outright, whether it involves a real child, an image of a child, or a fictional or computer-generated depiction of one.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Creating, sharing, requesting, linking to, storing, or advertising any sexual image or video of a minor, including material that is drawn, edited, or generated by AI.
- Sexualizing minors. Any sexual description of, comment about, or interest in a minor, including presenting a minor as an object of sexual interest.
- Grooming. Building a relationship with a minor, or with someone who says they are a minor, in order to sexually exploit or abuse them, and any attempt to meet a minor for sexual purposes.
- Sextortion. Threatening to share a person's intimate images to force them into sexual acts, more images, money, or silence.
- Trafficking and solicitation. Advertising, recruiting, buying, or selling a minor for sexual purposes, and soliciting sexual content or contact from a minor.
- Helping any of the above. Passing on contacts, instructions, code words, or links that enable child sexual abuse or exploitation, on or off Kismet.
These rules also cover our AI matchmaker. Users may not attempt to use it to produce sexual content involving minors, and it is built to refuse such requests.
How to report
In the app: open the conversation, tap the ⋯ menu in the top right, and choose report or block. Reporting also blocks the person immediately. Press and hold any message written by a kismet to report that message.
By email: contact@yourkismet.app. This address reaches our child safety contact directly. Please include the profile name and anything else that helps us find the account.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the US, call 911.
You can also report child sexual exploitation directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678, or to the authorities in your own country. Reporting to us does not stop you from reporting to them.
What we do about reports
- We review every report of CSAE, and we prioritize these above all other reports.
- We remove the content and terminate the account when a report is confirmed. Accounts terminated for CSAE are banned permanently, and we take steps to prevent the person from signing up again.
- We report to NCMEC as required by US law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A), and we cooperate with law enforcement requests.
- We preserve the evidence we are legally required to keep so that authorities can act on it, and do not otherwise retain it.
How the app is built to reduce risk
- 18+ signup with phone verification. Every account verifies a real phone number and gives a date of birth, which our servers check.
- No open discovery. You cannot browse or search for other users. Kismet only introduces adults who have crossed paths in person and whose matchmakers have agreed there is a fit.
- Report and block on every conversation, one tap away, with no need to contact support first.
- Location is never shown to other users, so nobody can be located through the app.
Child safety contact
Our child safety point of contact for users, regulators, and law enforcement is the Kismet Trust & Safety contact at contact@yourkismet.app. We aim to respond to child safety reports within 24 hours.
Compliance
These standards are published to meet Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store guidelines, and we follow the child safety laws that apply where our users are, including US federal law on reporting child sexual abuse material. They sit alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Safety Tips, and a breach of these standards is a breach of the Terms.
